J&K has 42 NABL-accredited water labs: Centre | KNO

New Delhi, Dec 04 (KNO): The Union Government Thursday informed Lok Sabha that Jammu and Kashmir has a total of 98 drinking water quality testing laboratories of which 42 are NABL-accredited or recognised. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), minister of State for Jal Shakti V Somanna said J&K currently operates with 2 state-level labs, 20 district or regional labs and 76 block, sub-division or mobile testing labs to monitor drinking water quality under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The ministry also said that the two state labs, 20 district or regional labs and 20 block-level labs are accredited—bringing the total number of certified labs in the Union Territory to 42. The ministry further said that the states and UTs, including J&K have been advised to strengthen laboratory accreditation to ensure reliability and accuracy in water quality assessment—(KNO)
